Hi! 👋🏻 I’m Ollie, a multidisciplinary maker-of-things based in Naarm (Melbourne, Australia)
The things that I make
Trained in communication design but uninterested in disciplinary boundaries, I work across design, illustration, events development, and arts education.
Through making, I hope to play my own small part in building a future that I would like to live in. I enjoy collaborating with community-focussed organisations, small businesses and fellow creators, on projects across the arts and cultural sectors. My favourite projects centre on events and experiences that encourage active interaction and engagement from the audience.

I have several years of freelance experience working with small businesses and city councils, mostly focussing on event promotion and collateral such as posters and signage. I have also recently created my first mural.
My strength is in creative strategy. I’m always asking ‘why’ and I enjoy exploring the concepts behind a project, drawing links between ideas and translating these into design.
My design projects often incorporate illustration, with some of my work leaning towards ‘pure’ illustration. I enjoy working with and emulating analogue processes, which bring a sense of tactility to my work.

Alongside creating visually-based ‘things’, I like to develop community-building events and experiences.
Since early 2020, I’ve been planning and facilitating all-ages music events with Amped Up, Merri-bek’s FReeZA committee. We’ve worked with some awesome local artists like Miss Kaninna, June Jones, and Jag.

Creativity is a central part of being human and I believe that making things, especially collaboratively, is important. I’ve dipped my toes into arts education, running a zine workshop at Glenroy Festival 2023 and a stencil/painting workshop at Glenroy Festival 2024. It’s something I’m excited to do more of!
