Hi! 👋🏻 I’m Ollie, a multidisciplinary maker-of-things based in Naarm (Melbourne, Australia)
The things that I make
Trained in communication design but uninterested in disciplinary boundaries, I work across design, illustration, events development, and arts education.
Through making, I hope to play my own small part in building a future that I would like to live in. I enjoy collaborating with community-focussed organisations, small businesses and fellow creators, on projects across the arts and cultural sectors. My favourite projects centre on events and experiences that encourage active interaction and engagement from the audience.

I have several years of freelance experience designing for small businesses and city councils, mostly working on event promotion and collateral such as posters and signage. I enjoy working with and emulating analogue processes, to bring a sense of tactility to my work.
My strength is in creative strategy. I’m always asking ‘why’ and I enjoy exploring the concepts behind a project, drawing links between ideas and translating these into design. In 2024 I had the opportunity to paint my first mural at Ringo Barr in Brunswick. I enjoyed working on a large-scale piece like this and plan to expand my practice in this direction during 2025.

Alongside creating visually-based ‘things’, I like to develop community-building events and experiences.
Since early 2020, I’ve been planning and facilitating all-ages music events with Amped Up, Merri-bek’s FReeZA committee. We’ve worked with some awesome local artists like Miss Kaninna, June Jones, and Jag, as well as record labels such as Milk! Records and Bad Apples Music.

Creativity is a central part of being human and I believe that making things, especially collaboratively, is important. I’ve dipped my toes into arts education, running workshops at Glenroy Festival and Coburg Night Market. It’s something I’m excited to do more of!
